One year ago this month, I joined Wealthy Affiliate University. I haven't learned all that is available there, but I have learned the fundamentals of making money on the Internet.
I may not have moved as fast as some of the other students. I thought I knew more than I actually knew. So I made some mistakes that a newbie would not have made.
It is an old hang up for me. I would rather teach than learn at times. I spend a lot of time helping new members, some of which ended up helping me.
Kyle and Carson put up with me all year. Finally, Kyle told me to take a break from helping members to help myself. He said that then I would be much better at helping the new members.
So, I went back over what I had done, started correcting errors (which I am still doing) and started promoting more products by article writing.
I was doing PPC but Kyle told me to concentrate omn article writing for now. PPC does take some concentration.
Anyway, I was using PPC to sell my flagpoles but I'm selling them without PPC now. It is cheaper but not as fast.
Anyway, although the average stay at WAU is about 5 months, I'm going to be there for another year if I don't die in the process. I will be renewing my membership next week.
The membership actually costs me nothing. It pay for its self. But I do save $10 / month on the tuition by signing on for a full year.

My Experience With Wealthy Affiliate University
Today is my 2-Month anniversary with Wealthy Affiliate University. I had never heard of WAU until the day I joined. Someone on Yahoo send me an email. It sounded interesting so I looked at sight. After being years on the Internet making too little money, I took the WAU bait which was this:
1. The gurus won't really help you that much.
I knew that already. I have big investment in gurus with nothing to show for it.
2. You can make money with what they call Bum Marketing on the WAU campus. That means you spend no money. You write articles and blogs to sell products.
I have been an article writer for many years. The first thing I learned was that i was not using the resource boxes on my articles correctly to produce sales. I contacted Ezineartiticles.com and they changed my source boxes on 462 articles in one fail swoop.
3. They push PPC teaching you how to beat the system.
I've lost my shirt with PPC over the years. Now I have a half dozen campaigns and I'm getting great help from the search engine's service techs. I'm making money rather than losing it.
4. The best thing of all at WAU is the tutoring.
I was given constant attention for two months. I got an email about every day telling me what is was doing wrong and how to do it right. I'm now being weaned, but every email is answered withing 24 hours.
5. The Forums at WAU are fantastic.
I've learned tons of things from the forums. I love to read the success stories. I feel great when a WAU student says he has had his first $100.00, $500.00 or $1000.00 day.
I take part in the forums and I try to welcome new students and give them a hand.
6. Sharing Space
This is great. There you can read tutorials from the students and staff. I have written a half dozen tutorials myself. I learn, I teach, I profit.
7. Every month WAU spreads the wealth, giving $10,000.00 to the students. These little bonuses are given to each student in 10 gold coins worth a dime. We pass the gold coins around. I have about 40 at this writing having given 13 away. Thursday, I will get 10 more free coins to give away. It's fun to share. When you have an excess of $10.00 you get the money with your monthly affiliate commissions.
You can't imagine how great it is to deal with Carson and Kyle at WAU and the other members. There is so much to learn every day. I find myself spending a lot of time there just learning and chatting with other students.
8. The best of all is the 8-week study course. When I looked at the resources for marketing, etc, and the lesson content, and the tutorials I knew that I would be at WAU for the long haul. I joined for a full year just to make sure I did stay. That was the best thing I ever did, not to save the $10.00 a month from the $39.00 monthly tuition, but to makes sure that this time I would not fail.
I have finished the 8-week Course but I still go back and study the lessons and I repeat many of the tutorials to get my old ways out of my head so that I can make money.
I am at last making some money on the Internet. Carson said that I will be making a full time income next year at this time.
It's not so much that I need money now, but I'm retired on a fixed income. I know what inflation does over the years. I have to look to my future even though I am 76 years old. Right now, I'm hesitant to drive any long distance because of the cost of fuel.

Get Started Right in Internet Marketing
Getting started in Internet marketing can be so disappointing.
Too many new Internet Wealth Seekers give up before they get started.
A common occurrence is that a new player in this Internet business game empty their bank accounts and max out their credit cards before they can get started. That is especially true of MLM programs that use Internet promotion.
Can you blame them for leaving?
It takes education to make money on the Internet. Folks know this and they spend tons of money on guru programs and ebooks, ending up with crappy, obsolete information, that leads them to the Internet Marketers Grave Yard.
Do you think the gurus are your friends?
Big Mistake!
They are not your enemy either. They hope that their programs will be successful. They need those testimonies coming in.
Have you notices that many of the testimonies sound like this: Wow, Steve! Boy, I sure am glad I signed up yesterday. This really looks good to me. I'll be ... blah, blah, blah. The point is that many of those who give testimonies do it too fast. They haven't really tried the program. They are just excited about it.
No guru would ever put up a sales letter on his site without testimonials. How do they find the testimonies before the program has been released? Well, one way is to call your fellow guru and and have him write you a testimonial. He can do that if you give him a peek at the program and put his link on your page.
The other way is to write the testimonials yourself.
I know this is done.
Sometimes, when I see it, I tell the guru something like this: Hey, George! Those Testimonies of yours look like you wrote them. Guru's usually don't answer these kind of comments. That would be a waste of time. They are Internet Marketers.
